GEOTHERMAL

WHAT IS GEOTHERMAL?

Is energy generated and stored in the Earth. This energy is usually in the form of pressure from temperatures. If used correctly it can be a renewable source of energy and very cost effective.

TYPES OF GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

LIQUID-DOMINATED PLANTS

Liquid-dominated reservoirs (LDRs) have temperatures greater than 200 °C (392 °F) and found near volcanoes. Power comes from steam that is generated from high temps. into energy.

THERMAL ENERGY

Lower temperature of 30–150 °C are used with heat pumps.

ENHANCED THERMAL ENERGY

Enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) injects water into wells, is than heated and pumped back out.
