FATIGUE

  • Put 2 drops peppermint oil on tissue or handkerchief, hold it to nose, and breathe deeply
  • Soak in a warm bath, adding Epson salt/sea salt, 2 drops of peppermint or lavender (your choice) essential oil
  • Lie on back, use pillows to prop feet at a level higher than your head
  • Avoid: white sugar, white flour, French bread, spaghetti, cake, processed foods, fatty foods, fried, caffeine
  • Diet: high-fiber, whole-grain cereals, whole-wheat , fresh fruits and vegetables, honey, leafy greens, spinach, sea salt, fish, organ meat, nuts, seeds, bananas
  • Cut unpeeled potato into slices, soak in water overnight, in morning drink the juice for a natural tonic brimming with potassium
  • Ginseng, Ginkgo, Bee pollen,
  • Magnesium, Coenzyne Q10, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, B-Complex, Multi-Vitamin, Vitamin E, B12, Chromium, Iron, Zinc, Iodine,
  • Drink 8 (8oz) glasses of water a day
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Exercise 30min a day: walk, swim, job, hike, tennis, gym
  • Consider yoga or tai chi, these allow you to get physical activity, that include relaxation components that can be reinvigorating
  • Get up the same time every day, eventually your body will get on a regular sleep schedule. Go to bed earlier, if you need extra sleep, but get the same time every morning
  • Avoid naps
  • If you feel tired all the time, even with regular sleep consult your doctor
  • Add Maca to your diet, used medicinally for thousands of years, particularly in South America where it grows abundantly at high elevations, maca is powerful “superfood” that normalizes hormones and boosts energy levels (add to your daily juice or smoothie)
  • Over-resting can have the opposite effect you want it to have
  • Exercise boosts energy levels long-term
  • Exercise regularly
  • Wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes

  • Make healthy energy drinks: Lemon, orange, lime, clementine, mandarin, tangerine, satsuma, grapefruit, kumquat, uglis, herbs, honey (be creative)
  • Yoga: can help calm the mind, control breathing, and boost energy levels
  • Try acupressure, acupuncture, meditation, biofeedback
  • Aromatherapy: Basil, Eucalyptus, Geranium, peppermint, Rosemary essential oils. To get the benefit of these oils, all you need to do is smell them. You can use a diffusor, a moistened cotton ball or tissue in a baggie, smell them right out of the bottle, applied to the body

FEVER

  • Soak in a cool bath, add ½ cup vinegar
  • Boil artichokes, cook until soft, eat the bottom part of the leaves
  • Add 1 teaspoon tulsi leaves to 1 cup of hot water/steep/drain/drink 3 x day
  • Place a slice of raw onion on the bottom of each foot, wrap feet in a warm towel/blanket/soak 1 hour/rinse
  • Apply cold compress to head
  • Add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds to 1 cup of hot water/steep/drink
  • Slice a potato and soak the slices in vinegar for ten minutes, place slices on forehead while you lie down, place a washcloth on top
  • Place slice of lemon on bottom of feet, cover with wet cotton sock, cover this sock with wool sock
  • Warm a mixture of 2 tablespoons olive oil and 2 crushed garlic cloves, apply mixture under the sole of each foot, wrap each foot with plastic, and keep on overnight
  • Soak 25 raisins in a cup of water, Crush raisins into the water, strain, add the juice from a half of a lime to the water and drink 2 x day
  • Take a bath in lukewarm water
  • Sponge high-heat areas like armpits and groin with cool water
  • Place cold washcloths on forehead, back of neck, underarms and groin
  • Sprinkle cayenne pepper on foods
  • Soak feet in warm water and 2 teaspoons mustard powder
  • Drink 8 glasses of water daily

FIBROCYSTIC BREAST DISEASE

  • Avoid: caffeinated beverages, alcohol, tea and soft drinks
  • Apply cold compress
  • Place cool cabbage leaves over breasts overnight
  • Diet: kelp, seaweed,
  • Avoid: salt
  • Apply warm compress/heating pad to affected breast for 5 minutes
  • A great home remedy for fibrocystic breasts is a rice bag, to make a rice bag, fill a thick clean sock with raw rice, tie opening, heat 30 seconds in microwave, place on affected breast
  • Massage breast with ginger oil, then place a hot compress
  • Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin B6
  • Diet: fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, leafy green vegetables, fortified cereals, vegetable oils, cucumbers, parsley, cabbage, whole grains, mackerel, trout, salmon, garlic, mushrooms, onion, pistachio
  • Wear a well-fitted bra that offers adequate support to the breasts

FIBROMYALGIA

  • Take time off and rest
  • Meditation and breathing exercises can help you relax and ease pain
  • Get enough sleep, develop good sleeping habits by going to bed early and waking up at the same time every day, this helps create a routine which your body starts to get used to
  • Eat a healthy well balanced diet
  • Avoid: processed foods, MSG, fatty foods, sugar
  • Add a pinch of turmeric powder to a glass of milk before you go to bed
  • Drink tea: burdock roots, dandelion, red clover, St. John’s (2 tablespoons herb to 1 cup boiling water/steep/strain/drink)
  • Massage affected area with wintergreen, peppermint, eucalyptus or rosemary essential oils
  • Soak in a warm bath, add sea salt/Epsom salts and essential oils
  • Yoga, can help ease symptoms of pain and fatigue

FINGERNAIL PROBLEMS

  • Avoid using harsh shower gels and soaps
  • Wear gloves when dunking hands in water or while doing the dishes
  • Switch to gentle detergents and soaps with natural ingredients
  • Apply oil (olive oil, jojoba oil or coconut oil works best) on your finger nails, the oil works as a protective layer, thus repelling water and other damaging ingredients away from the nails
  • If you wear nail polish, allow nails to breathe between fresh coats, apply a base coat to prevent nail dehydration
  • When buying nail polish, opt for protein-based options
  • Stop biting nails
  • Eating a well-balanced diet: greens, fruits, proteins, whole grains, fish, flaxseed
  • Rub Vitamin E ointment on the nail to strengthen soft nails
  • To fight stubborn nail fungus, apply a drop of tea-tree oil daily
  • Don’t clip your cuticles. When you do this, you’re removing your nail’s protective barrier. Fungi and bacteria find it easier to get a grip around the base of the nail after the cuticle is removed
  • Take biotin, Vitamin B, fish oil, evening primrose oil
  • Drink Tea: horsetail, nettle tea
  • If your nails have white spots, you may be deficient in zinc. Nuts, root vegetables, whole grains, meat, and shellfish are good sources of this mineral
  • For dry, brittle nails, rub petroleum jelly or a thick cream into your nails to hold moisture around and under your nails. If you do this at bedtime, slip a pair of thin cotton gloves on your hands before you to sleep
  • Avoid polish removers-that contain acetone or formaldehyde, use acetate-based removers instead
  • Say no to fake nails

FLATULENCE (GAS)

  • Diet: Citrus fruits, sweet peppers, potatoes, pumpkin
  • Yogurt contains live bacterial cultures to alleviate problems of digestion
  • Cloves are one of the most effective natural gas remedies, add a couple of cloves to rice or sprinkle powdered cloves on cubed fruit. You can even make clove tea by steeping some cloves in boiling water. Sugar may be added to sweeten the tea.
  • Crush a handful of coriander seeds into a powder and add to dishes.
  • Fennel seeds: Steep 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds in a cup of boiling water and sip throughout the day, chew on fennel seeds after meals, crushed fennel seeds may also be added to foods while cooking
  • Add half a teaspoon of baking soda and one teaspoon of lemon juice to a cup of water and drink after meals
  • To alleviate abdominal pain and cramps, use herbal oils such as ginger, sesame, olive, clove or fennel oil to massage the abdomen
  • Add a small amount of rosemary, sage or thyme to starchy or other gassy foods before eating
  • Drink Tea: chamomile, peppermint, fennel, ginger aniseed, basil or sage, add 1 teaspoons herb to 1 cup boiling water/steep/strain/ Add honey/ 2xday
  • Add turmeric powder to foods while cooking
  • Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric to a glass of warm milk
  • Reduce your intake of foods that contain soluble fiber such as beans, carrots, peas, barley and apples.
  • Avoid sweeteners used in sugar-free foods
  • Avoid dairy products, gluten and fructose
  • Drink carbonated drinks
  • Chew 1 teaspoon of celery seeds (but don’t swallow)
  • Take two tablets of activated charcoal before and after meals. Do not take with medications, supplements, or birth control pills, it binds to them
  • Mix 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger with 1 teaspoon lime juice, take after eating
  • Chew on some peppermint leaves
  • Take simethicone

FROSTBITE

  • Don’t expose affected areas to direct heat like a heat lamp or fire, because this may further damage skin and tissue, the frostbitten areas must be slowly re-warmed
  • Exposing the affected area to your own body heat is an effective remedy for frostbite, place hands/fingers under armpits or curl body inwards so that warmth is generated
  • Avoid placing affected areas under running water as this will only lead to further heat loss
  • Avoid drinking alcohol
  • Avoid smoking
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing which enables proper circulation in the body
  • If you have frostbite on your fingers, remove any jewelry which can hamper circulation and lead to excess swelling
  • Fill up a bottle with hot water and roll it under your feet. This will help to warm up frostbitten toes
  • After undergoing the initial treatment for frostbite, immerse the affected areas in warm water to improve circulation and help in healing
  • Cayenne pepper contains certain compounds which enhance circulation and alleviates pain that occurs because of frostbite
  • Apply fresh pulp from aloe vera leaves to relieve symptoms and aid in healing
  • Gently rub frostbitten areas with inside of a banana peel
  • Apply olive oil or peppermint oil to affected areas
  • Rose hip helps in the growth and regeneration of skin cells
  • Make a paste of mullein flowers, add a small amount of olive oil and apply to the affected areas
  • Apply a layer of warm olive oil to the affected area
  • Dab a small amount of witch hazel to the affected areas
