WHAT IS A GREENHOUSE?
A greenhouses is a structures made with mostly transparent materials like glass, that is climate control inside to grow plants. There are lots of different types and designs of greenhouses. Each have different purposes.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF GREENHOUSES
COLD FRAME
A cold frame has a transparent roof and is built low to the ground.
STARTER GREENHOUSE
Starter greenhouses are usually small and used to start the process of growing of seeds.
GLASS GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse made mostly of glass. It stays warm inside even during winter season.
PLASTIC GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse made out of durable plastic.
CONVENTIONAL GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse that is >20ft wide and 100ft high. The frame can be made of aluminum, steel or even wood.
A-FRAME GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse with a A-Frame retractable roof. This greenhouse can be used in all types of climates.
GOTHIC GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse with a gothic arch at the peak.
HOOP GREENHOUSE
A hoop greenhouse has the look of a tunnel with a rounded roof. They are usually made from aluminum pipes or plastic PVC pipes, and are covered in plastic.
LEAN TO/ATTACHED GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse that uses an existing structure, as the back wall of the greenhouse.
WINDOW GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse made of old (recycled) windows.
RECYCLED MATERIALS GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse made completely from recycled materials.
HOT/TROPICAL GREENHOUSE
Is a hot climate greenhouse that is used to grow tropical plants.
COOL GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse that has a cool climate.
WARM GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse with a A temperature range 50/55 degrees.
DETACHED GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse that stands independently from other greenhouses.
HIGH TUNNEL GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse that is also called high tunnels that are unheated.
LOW TUNNEL GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse made from wire hoops 4ft apart and covered in plastic. The plastic has slits for ventilation.
RIGID FRAME GREENHOUSE
Is a greenhouse designed in widths up to 40 ft, and has no columns to hold up roof.
